Coloring up the hair is a common phenomenon now days. Most people color up their hair to return gray hair to its previous color. But there are still many people who color up their hair for fashion statement. This is not at all a new trend. From the very early ages people used wigs for this purpose. But now days it is much more easier to change the color of your hair. You can even do it yourself at home. Now its as easy as that. There are different categories of hair color also. The categories are: temporary hair color, semi permanent hair color, demi permanent hair color, permanent hair color and hair lighteners and bleaches.

Temporary hair colors are for one time use and can be removed after a shampoo. The pigment molecules in temporary hair color are large, and therefore, do not penetrate the cuticle layer, allowing only an outer coating that may be removed by shampooing. Temporary hair colors are found in different forms like rinses, shampoos, gels, sprays, foams and others. The actual purpose of this type of colors is to give brighter and more vibrant shades, and is used for some special occasions like Halloween parties etc.

Unlike the temporary colors the pigment molecules of semi permanent colors are smaller and can partially penetrate the hair shaft. Hence these colors have more durability than temporary colors and remains intact for up to 4 to 5 shampoos. These colors are sometimes helpful for damaged and fragile hair. Apart from the semi permanent colors demi permanent colors are also available in the market. These colors lasts for more than 28 shampoos. But care should be taken while using this type of colors as they tend much more on the permanent side than the temporary.

Permanent Color is the best choice for grey hair coverage. It has an oxidizing colorant that also uses ammonia and peroxide to lift and deposit the new color, going deep into the hair shaft. The use of ammonia opens the cuticle of the hair to allow the color pigments to penetrate deep into the hair shaft. Thus much more care should be taken while using this type of colors. As it is permanent these colors are more difficult to maintain and get rid off.

Hair lightening, is a chemical process involving the diffusion of the natural color pigment or artificial color from the hair plus the raising of the cuticle making the hair more porous. This process is central to both permanent hair color and hair lighteners. Most hair lighteners and bleaches can make your hair turn gray at a younger age.

Thus though it gives a brilliant look, one should always be careful while using hair colors. Most of the colors are made of artificial chemicals and there is always a risk of hair damage while using them. It often causes skin irritation like redness, sores, itching, burning sensation and discomfort. Therefore proper care should always be taken while using these colors.

Azurite and malachite are crystals formed by the weathering process that breaks down the mineral deposits of natural copper. Azurite is a striking bright blue, with a hardness of about 3.5 to 4 on the Mohs scale and a specific gravity of approximately 3.77 to 3.89 and a refractive index of 1.655-1.909. Azurite is extracted for use in paint pigments, often producing a range of blue color depends on the nature of the mineral. Malachite is the Greek translation of the Moloch, which means purple, because of their color. Unfortunately, the azurite is unstable in most conditions and loses its bright blue color over time or be replaced by more stable cousin, malachite. Malachite shares the same properties as azurite, but appears as a vibrant green mineral. Unlike azurite, malachite, require no special treatment so it is more suitable for use in jewelry, but also a popular pigment, producing a wide range of green colors in the paintings. Both minerals are particularly sensitive to acid, often found together, and when it is above ground, is usually a good indicator of copper ore beneath the surface. Azurite is a spiritual stone, believed to help improve a person's connection with the gods and bring calm and peace. Helps increase creativity and enhance a person's ability to communicate effectively. Malachite is a healing stone, believed to be good for the healing of a person's heart, soul and body.
Hi, I’m Sylvana. I have been involved in the gems trade since about the time I could sit on my Dads’ knee and have him tell me all about the pretty gemstones. Each one in its’ own special case, handed to me in turn. There I learnt all about colours and different formations rocks make, why some gems display multi colours and what makes each gem special. Gems are my all consuming passion in this life! So I spend many hours each day, researching and collecting and organising and constantly updating my knowledge.
